January 9-13 01/09/2012

LANGUAGE ARTS
We are starting a novel study.  We are doing this together as a group.  Students will be working on character studies, word studies, and comprehension skills.
SCIENCE
We are moving along with the cycle of life.  Our salmon eggs have gone from: fertilized eggs, to eyed eggs, to alevin.  Right now they are self sufficient and are nourished by their yolk sac.  This week begins the chore of weekly water exchanges.
MATH
We are continuing to learn about multiplication in terms of arrays (rows and columns) and repeated addition.  Daily practice is strongly recommended.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Tomorrow a home project is due.  Students should have three examples each of food, shelter, and clothing.  A small sketch and short explanation are required.
We will begin looking at key words to research answers to BIG QUESTIONS and SMALL QUESTIONS and find information in the text.
YPC
This Thursday is our second Young People's Concert.  We will be watching a performance by BUZZ BRASS.  They will take us on a journey to explain the origins of contemporary music.
