January 29-February 3 *FSA TESTING* This week and early into next week there will be FSA testing. *Harper Mountain* Next Wednesday will be our first lesson. We need at least one parent volunteer to transport equipment. Please let me know if you plan on attending and if you plan to ski/snowboard. SCIENCE FAIR Our next science unit is science fair projects. This takes 4-5 weeks and is done in class time (for the most part). Although there are many ways to do projects (studies, replications, etc.) we are doing experiments following the scientific method. That is, students need to come up with: a question, hypothesis, materials needed, procedure, control, independent variable (s), results/observations, conclusion. It is possible that some of the projects may be chosen to go on to the district level. Judges look for originality. Simple projects that are designed to answer a question that the student has thought about are highly desirable. LANGUAGE ARTS This week we will complete our novel study and end by making a plot line. This is a new strategy for students to summarize a book and demonstrate their understand of the characters and events. MATH We will continue learning more about rounding numbers and move into estimating. Comments Comments are closed. |
